What does a Nanny do?
Although it varies from placement to placement, most nannies live in with their families and provide basic child care for the children. In addition to basic play and teaching activities, errands, and picking up children from school, nannies are often required to do light housecleaning and child related cooking and cleaning.
The family not only depends on the nanny to help the children through their daily routines but also to instill a sense of responsibility, discipline, and basic values. In terms of pay, responsibilities, and rewards, a nanny is much more than just a babysitter. Typically a nanny works five twelve hour days a week with two consecutive days off. A nanny stays with a family for a minimum of one year.

How Much Will I Earn?
At Oregon Nannies our nannies usually earn a minimum of $200 a week. Most salaries are in the $300 to $400 range with a few going as high as $1000. Since your room, board, and car are provided at no cost by the family, this is an excellent way to save money. Nannies get two consecutive days off each week with a two week vacation (usually paid) per year. Although Oregon Nannies will provide assistance in negotiating with your family, you are free to negotiate your salary, benefits, and schedule to your own satisfaction. Oregon Nannies. does not receive a cut or percentage of your salary. Our services are totally paid for by a fee we charge the family.

Where will I be Working?
The largest demand for nannies is on the east coast of the United States. Oregon Nannies places most of its nannies in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey followed by California and Oregon. However if you are interested in a particular location, Oregon Nannies can also help. As a member of the International Nannies Association, we will contact other member nanny agencies across the country and try to make a match for you. You will not be charged for this service.

Who Pays for my Travel Expenses?
Some agencies require a nanny to pay all or part of her travel expenses. Families who retain Oregon Nannies pay for all expenses involved in transportation, including interviews. If a nanny quits before the end of her contracted term, however, she may be liable for her own return transportation costs.

How Does the Selection Process Work?
Oregon Nannies prides itself on matching motivated nannies with responsible families. We look for nannies who are mature and good with children, and we look for families that are stable and friendly. The people we work with not only accept our nannies into their homes, they treat them as a member of their family. Our application process is one of the most comprehensive in the industry. This enables the family to commit to a particular nanny before she even leaves Oregon and allows us to stand behind our nannies.

As an Oregon Nanny, you choose positions in which you are interested. We will then send out your application packet to those families and arrange for telephone interviews. Normally, the interview process takes from one to two weeks, during which time you will get to know your new family very well.

After Placement What Kind of Support Will I Receive?
We will stay in contact with you and your family throughout your stay. Oregon Nannies also provides a nanny network that puts you in touch with other nannies from Oregon in your area.

What is Oregon Nannies' guarantee?
If either you or your family are unhappy during your first 60 days, either of you may terminate your contract. We will then replace the nanny, and we will try to place you with another family.

We look forward to working with you.
